Laminate Supplied and Fitted, or Fitting Only
Laminate is still the best value floor for most Northern Ireland homes — hard-wearing, warm underfoot over a good underlay, and quick to fit. The difference between a laminate floor that lasts ten years and one that lifts in two is almost always the preparation underneath it.
Board thickness matters more than the price tag suggests. Anything under 8mm feels hollow underfoot and telegraphs every dip in the subfloor; 8–12mm with a decent underlay feels solid and quiet. AC rating is the wear grade — AC3 is fine for bedrooms, AC4 or above for halls, stairs and anywhere with a door to the outside.
If the room gets genuinely wet — kitchen, utility, bathroom or porch — LVT is the better answer. The floor laying page covers LVT, vinyl and engineered wood, and the laminate versus LVT guide goes room by room.

Finishing & Clear-Up
Beading or skirting refitted, door bars set at every threshold, internal doors trimmed to clear the new height, and the old flooring and offcuts taken away with us.
That last part matters more than people expect. Lifted carpet, underlay and gripper rods from an average room fills a car boot several times over, and a handyman removing it is carrying controlled waste that needs proper disposal. It is included rather than left stacked in your garden.
