Work Through the Whole List

Most people have six or seven small jobs saved up rather than one. Send the whole list at once — grouping them into a single visit costs less than calling someone out repeatedly, and you get one price for the lot.

It is also worth saying what is not on the list. Anything requiring a registered trade — gas work, notifiable electrical alterations, structural changes — is not something to take on, and you will be told that straight away rather than after the money has changed hands. Being clear about the edges of the job is part of quoting it honestly.

Bigger items on the list have their own pages: flooring, flat pack assembly and interior and exterior painting.
